A red moss growing on the muslin,
slow ooze dropping in the china bowl —
the jelly bag hangs from a knob
on the kitchen cupboard.
The hot work's over for a time.
Slow down, lean on the counter, watch
a small thing gather to a greatness here.
Like seeing a shell form nacre.
